The news has hit that Marc Jacobs is leaving the Louis Vuitton franchise after a 16 year stretch. Thousands of people are demanding that they saw this shocking news on the horizon, but Jacobs insists that it was a very last minute decision. I, for one, was under the belief that the magic of Jacobs for Vuitton would never end.
Always one to please a crowd, Marc Jacobs did not let his final show fall short. The spectacularly structured catwalk seemed more of a performance as the models walked a peculiar route, involving a black, gothic-style lift, fast moving escalators and a giant swanlike fountain. This swanlike feel swam throughout the entire show, with its heavy, yet strangely ethereal music striking a foreboding, continuous beat. The ground was covered in navy faux fur, and it became clear to the audience that every colour, every texture, every item in the room had been meticulously chosen, inevitably consecrating the legendary stamp that Marc Jacobs has left on Louis Vuitton.
